Sometimes people ask me why I setup the project almosy 4 years ago. It is true that following a holiday to The Gambia I was so upset after learning how girls and women use dirty rags, sand or animal dun that I had to do something. But it runs deeper than that. Period poverty in the UK has always been there. As a young girl myself I couldn't always afford sanitary pads and would make my own using tissues and cotton wool. I would often ask friends for spare pads too which was never ideal. Thankfully, girls in the UK have more opportunities to obtain products or to make cleaner options (although not ideal ) than those in counties like The Gambia. This is why I will with your generosity continue the project to help women and girls not only stay in education but to use clean products to keep them free from infection and death.
